Tobago is the smaller of the two unlikely
sister-islands Trinidad and Tobago. The
Republic became independent from Great Britain in 1962 and is located in the
southern part of the Caribbean islands and close to the coast of Venezuela.
It has about 1.3 Million inhabitants. 50,000 of them live on the 301
square-kilometres large island of Tobago...
Whilst Trinidad is exporting crude oil and natural gas and became famous for its
gorgeous Carnival, the much smaller island of Tobago impresses with its unique nature
and its friendly inhabitants, which are mostly of African descent. The average temperature
stays constant at about 28 degrees Celsius over the year. During the rainy season,
between June and November, intense but mostly short tropical showers pass over occasionally...
Flying to Tobago...
With only two mega-resorts, Tobago sets apart from mass tourism
and is visited mostly by Europeans. British-Airways flies twice a week direct from London to
Tobago with its modern Boeing 777. Virgin-Atlantik from
London and Thomas Cook from Frankfurt also
